Getting started: Website

The first steps to set up your photography website: control panel, galleries, pages, contact details, menu and general settings.

Your website is the showcase for your work: show your best photos and explain your services clearly. Here are the first steps to get it ready.

1. Get to know the control panel

From the control panel you create and customise every section of your website and your online studio. The sidebar holds the main areas: Client Galleries, Booking, Contracts, Sales, Website, Blog and General.

2. Create and edit galleries

Your website already includes some sample galleries. You’ll find them in:

Control panel / sidebar / Website / Galleries.

Click a gallery (or the pencil) to open it and use Upload photographs to add your own: drag them in or choose them from your computer. Hover over a photo to see the icons to change its title, download, replace, move, copy, share or delete it. To create a new gallery, click + New, enter the name, choose where it goes in the menu and upload your photos.

3. Create your pages

For text pages (services, about me, prices…) and more commercial landing pages, go to:

Control panel / sidebar / Website / Pages.

Click + New and choose the type: Menu page for a section of your website, such as “Services”, or Landing for a commercial page. In the General tab, set:

  • Parent: whether the page goes in the main menu or inside another section.

  • Title: the name shown in the menu.

  • Address (URL): created from the title, but you can change it with the pencil.

  • Password: if you only want some people to see the page, for example with a service’s rates or course content.

Click Save: the Editor tab appears, where you write the page content. In the SEO tab, write the title and description for search engines, and use the other tabs to choose the images and the form. Remember to publish it.

4. Contact details

Control panel / sidebar / General / Contact.

Enter your studio’s name, address, phone and email and choose which details to show. They appear on the contact page of your website, Client gallery and online store. The email is also where messages from the contact form arrive. Click Save before leaving.

5. Customise the main menu

Control panel / sidebar / General / Menu.

Your website starts with sample pages with generic text and photos: we recommend hiding or deleting them and creating your own. Don’t add too many items: the menu has to fit nicely in the design you’ve chosen. Each row has, from left to right:

  • the checkbox to select several items;

  • the pencil to edit the item (or click its name);

  • the bin to delete it;

  • the double arrow to change its position in the menu;

  • the screen icon (website) and the cart icon (Client gallery and store): green if the item is published there, red if it’s hidden;

  • the paper plane to share the page by email, WhatsApp, social media or link.

6. General settings

Control panel / sidebar / Settings / General.

Here you choose your website’s home page. The other Settings items cover the rest of the setup: languages, legal details, SEO (the website name shown on Google: it should include your studio name, your speciality and your city) and email.
