Your website is your shop window on the internet. If you connect it to Google Analytics you’ll get very useful data, for example:
How many people visit your website.
Which countries they come from.
What time they visit.
Which pages they view.
How long they stay on your website.
This article explains how to sign up, how to find your code and how to connect it to your website.
Note: the Google Analytics screenshots in this article are in Spanish; you’ll see them in your own language.
Sign up for Google Analytics
Go to Google Analytics and click Get started today (you need a Google account; if you don’t have one, create one).
Google’s setup wizard will ask you for some details, in these steps:
Account creation: in Account name type your business name and click Next.
Property creation: type the property name (for example, your website name), choose your country’s time zone and currency and click Next.
Business details: choose your industry and business size and click Next.
Business objectives: choose the ones you’re interested in, click Create and accept the terms of service.
Data collection: choose the Web platform.
Data stream: type your website URL (for example, www.yourdomain.com) and a stream name, and click Create stream.
Google will also show you instructions for installing the Google tag on your website: you don’t need them, because Arcadina adds it automatically when you paste the measurement ID into the panel.
You’ll then see the web stream details. The important piece of data, which you’ll copy into your control panel, is the Measurement ID, which starts with G-.
The old UA- codes (Universal Analytics) no longer work. If your website still uses a UA code, replace it with your stream’s G- measurement ID.
Find your measurement ID if you already have an account
If you already use Google Analytics, you can find your measurement ID like this:
At the top left, next to the Analytics logo, choose the property for your Arcadina website (if you have more than one).
At the bottom left, click Admin.
In the Data collection and modification section, click Data streams.
Click your website’s stream: you’ll see the Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX) at the top right.
Connect your website to Google Analytics
With your G- measurement ID to hand, go to:
Control panel / sidebar / Account / Integrations / Google.
Open the Analytics tab and paste the ID into the Tracking code field. Then click Save.
The Google Analytics tracking code is only added to your website if the visitor accepts cookies. If you want it to be added always, tick Always insert the tracking code.
Statistics
On the Google Analytics site you can check all kinds of data and statistics. You can also see the main statistics from your control panel, with the View statistics button on the same Analytics tab.
