Sort the images in a gallery

How to change the order of the photos in your website and Client gallery galleries, one by one or all at once.

Written by Félix Mezcua

To show your images in a website gallery or in a gallery in your business area (public and private galleries), you can arrange them however you like.

This article explains how to sort the photos in any type of gallery.

Sort the images in a website gallery

To change the order of the photos in a website gallery, go to:

Control panel / sidebar / Website / Galleries.

Open the gallery by clicking its name or the pencil. In the Images tab you’ll see all the photos in the order they’ll appear on your website. You have several options to arrange them.

Move individual photos

If you only want to change the position of one or a few images, hover over one of them: several icons appear. In the middle you’ll find the move icon: click it and, without letting go, drag the image to the position you want.

Reorder the whole gallery

If you want to rearrange the whole gallery instead, you can do it in one step. Without selecting any image, hover over the Actions button at the top and choose Reorder.

In the window that opens you can sort the photos by these criteria:

  • Actual: the current order of the images.

  • Ascending name (A-Z).

  • Descending name (Z-A).

  • Shooting date, ascending.

  • Shooting date, descending.

Choose the option you want, for example Descending name, and click Reorder. The photos are shown in the new order straight away.

The shooting date options are only available if every image in the gallery has this information in its metadata.

Sort the images in a Client gallery

The process is the same. Go to Client Galleries / Galleries and open the gallery by clicking its name or the pencil.

Sorting photos by date can be very useful, for example if you shot a wedding with several cameras: with shooting date, ascending, the photos are shown in the exact order they were taken.

Here too, in the Images tab, you can move photos one by one, or hover over Actions and choose Reorder.

Choose the criterion and click Reorder. Remember that the date options are only available if all the photos have the shooting date in their metadata.
